The s6 lite is a really good tablet especially for note taking. The A series doesn't have S-pen support, hence the name S-pen, they're made for S models. 280 CAD is a really good price for it. In the Netherlands (and most other countries) the cheapest you can get it for is 318 euros off sale, which is 455 CAD. I have a Tab s7 FE.
Still, you're getting a great price for a solid device. IMHO, the S6 Lite a very good value at that price. [edit] FWIW, I've used the following tablet cover on my S6 Lite since purchase and have been very happy with it. It was good to have the screen covered and a secure way to stow the S-pen in it's charging position next to the tablet.

Galaxy Tab S6 Lite display. The 10.4-inch display on the Tab S6 Lite has a 16:10 aspect ratio and a resolution of 2000 by 1200 pixels. Except for the large screen estate, the display doesn't exactly have any redeeming qualities. It has somewhat muted colors, doesn't get exceptionally bright, and lacks the deep blacks you get on an AMOLED

The Ipad 9th generation has 12MP ultra wide-angle with f/2.4 aperture and 122° filled view in the front side camera along with 8MP wide camera, HDR for photos, and digital zoom upto 5X in the back side camera giving it a really good boost. The tab s6 lite doesnt have that, also given the weaker cpu you will have much more latency when writing, programs wont open fast and so on. If that doesnt bother you there might be a problem with the s pen that comes with both the devices. The s pen is small, thin and too light.
Alternative is nebo- its made specifically for scribble. 1. InvaderZix • 1 yr. ago. The only reason I don't really use word much is because it's much more convenient for me to have my notes in my drive (and Docs also has dark mode which really helps me). I'd love if Word had those features, I'd use it way more.
Javed_Wilde1 • 3 yr. ago. its indeed pretty good. 4 years might be a long stretch but it will definitely last that long (depending on ur usage) i use it mainly for 3d sculpting and occasionally use it for drawing. The performance is Extremely good and it will easily serve my purposes for atleast 2-3 years.
Both the s6 and the s6 lite stylus are pretty much the same except that the s6 one has bluetooth and the lite version doesn't the s6 lite's s pen isn't completely round as you said, I'd recommend you to get the tab S4 stylus cause many people in this subreddit say it's pretty good and it works for the s6 too
